We need to show up and be consistent for a lifetime.
.So we ask these older youth, how can we support you? We take that feedback to the people who believe in our work and ask them to help, to recognize the need for more access & resources for this age group. Kuumba Lynx is committed to investing our time and the small funding we have gotten, toward this work.” explained Jaquanda.

Who Is Jaharri Brodnax
Jaharri Brodnax is a 21-year-old artist from the Northside of Chicago: Uptown specifically. His work primarily consists of illustrations and music production but continues to develop through his desire to experiment and collaborate. As a KL Alum Jaharri believes it is just as important to create for relief as it is to do the necessary work in building community. As a result, he centers his work around being adaptive, in the sense that there isn’t a constant theme, subject, or even message that’s always present. This collection of work is an idea of what marketing/inspiration looks like Jaharri looks to create his own audience in the power of the internet. “The youth should be able to be critical in their work, as well as make something simply because they think it's cool. Nothing’s off the table."
The above Illustrations were created by Jaharri Brodnax to promote Kuumba Lynx's city-wide
Critical Love campaign and social media series.
"I found that I could say things with colors and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for." ~ Georgia O'Keeffe
Some time ago, Kuumba Lynx created this collaborative project called S.P.R.O.U.T, which featured a variety of poets and illustrators. S.P.R.O.U.T stands for Spitting Powerful Rhymes Organically Unleashing Truth. Jaharri Brodnax remixed the S.P.R.O.U.T project for 2020 during the COVID 19 pandemic and shutdown for Kuumba Lynx's #CriticalLove campaign and series. With the illustrations created for the 2020 S.PR.O.U.T Remix, Jaharri created an open-ended coloring book and comic titled the "Sprout Freestyle Force".
The coloring book is open-ended because some of the illustrations have been drawn in such a way as to allow the colorer to express their own thoughts and feelings within the coloring book as they work through it. The illustrations are also drawn in such a way where users can transpose or combine their own illustrations to the book as well. Click the link below to download a copy of the coloring book for FREE.
